Monday - Thursday

Homework gives you a chance to practice what you've learned so try to look at it as an opportunity to exercise and get stronger. Each night you will have spelling practice, a math worksheet and some writing or grammar. Spelling Contracts can remain in the HW folder until Friday. Math will be reviewed daily. The writing may be related to the Science or Social Studies topics. If you have the concept and can apply it easily then your HW may seem easy and will give you confidence.  On the other hand, if you are struggling with a new skill then HW may feel challenging and take longer than you'd like. Do the best you can and then come in the next day with questions.  Explain the steps you tried so I can help steer you in the right direction. Chances are if you are having trouble you really do need more guidance in school and still more practice on your own until it makes sense. You will get it, but you must be willing to work for it and to ask for help. I am here to support and encourage you along the way.

Friday & Special Projects

No NEW Assignments, some students may need to complete their seat work, projects or unfinished homework assignments. Special assignments are typically given monthly and may consist of a book report, product presentation, or science poster.  Parents should encourage your child to complete the project in steps so it isn't all left 'til the last minute.  In most cases time management is the biggest barrier to project completion.
